Let me introduce myself – my name is Bernadette Hawkes and I am a Psychoanalytic Psychotherapist based in London. I have set up this blog to help make the ideas and foundations of psychotherapy more accessible and signpost to useful resources.
I trained at the Institute of Psychotherapy and Social Studies and hold a MA, Dip Psychotherapy, CQSW.
I have extensive experience in social work specialising in criminology, as well as working with children and families. I have experience in private practice, the voluntary sector and the NHS. I also work as a supervisor.
I have contributed to a number of academic journals and papers including the British Journal of Psychotherapy and I have served as the Book Review Editor of the International Journal of Psychotherapy. I use a range of literature in my work including classical English literature, as well as African American and African Caribbean.
